Daniel Everett is pretty amazing at capturing empty moments of urban destinations that most of us only know as crowded and full of life. In spite of the emptiness, Daniel’s pictures are still full of life!

A while ago I posted a link to the website of the Danish artist Peter Callesen. His origamic skills are amazing and you ought to check out what might have been one of his inspirations. In 1981, Masahiro Chatani develop something called Origamic Architecture and even though it’s not as detailed as Peter Callesen’s work, it’s still amazing…

A while ago, Amazon bought J.K. Rowling’s ‘The Tales of Beedle the Bard’ which is an essential part of the seventh and final book of Harry Potter. They paid £1,950,000 (which is so many money for 157 pages that I won’t even convert it to other currencies - it still sounds like a reasonable amount in Pounds).
The whole point of the book is that it is handmade in only seven copies (!) and bound in brown Moroccan leather and embellished with five hand-chased hallmarked sterling silver ornaments and mounted moonstones along with lots and lots of hand-drawn illustrations from Ms. Rowling herself. Plus all of the proceeds from the auctions goes into charity, so it’s really okay for a company that has made so much money from the books to give something back.
Anyway, Amazon have now put up a site that tells what the stories are about and what some of the illustrations look like, and you can find them here: amazon.com/beedlebard. I haven’t read them yet; I want to read the stories as a whole, when I can, but it’s a nice gesture by Amazon none the less.
“BARACK OBAMA EMAILED YOUR DAD AND TOLD HIM HOW GREAT YOU ARE”
It’s absolutely bizarre, and I love it. Find more on this well-though of website: Barack Obama Is Your New Bicycle.
Magnificent paintings from Lori Nix (no, they’re not photographs, but paintings!) about the cities we live in and what they would look life if humans were extinct.

The Web Trend Map 2008 from Information Architects Japan is almost ready to ship. To order one, put a comment on their blog post (120 or so at this point) or send them a mail, since only 1000 will be made. Oh, and it’s $50 plus $5 for shipping, so it’s cheap for such a huge poster (A0) that’s also beautiful.
