Appartently the documentary film ‘Helvetica’ ended up on Google Video some weeks ago, and Gary Hustwit (the director) is angry about it:
Some of you may have caught the 48-hour free view of Helvetica on Google Video… uhm, that wasn’t legit. [...] Tens of thousands of people watched the film free on Google in the past two days (it was the #1 most watched video today). Do you know how many people have emailed asking how they can support the film? Two people. There’s been no increase in traffic to this site, and no change in our normal daily mail order sales.
That’s not good, and the only reason why I haven’t bought it yet, is that I wanted the limited edition and didn’t get around to buy it in time. Hopefully, a new version is coming out, and this time it’s in Blu-Ray:
Dutch design team Experimental Jetset has been commissioned to design a special edition of the Blu-ray package… all we can say is that a 12″ gatefold record cover is involved…
That has got to look awesome!
